ITO_KOLLEKTIV
Ito Kollectiv is a passion project that came to life in Germany when soprano Anika Ram, pianist Madoka Ito, and I realised we shared the same vision—breaking the fourth wall and bringing opera into unexpected spaces. We wanted performances that felt raw, immediate, and alive. No microphones, no safe distance, just the physical power of the voice and the closeness of being in amongst the audience.
Our goal has always been to push boundaries and reach people who might never think of going to the opera, and to make them feel it in their bones.
We’ve already performed in some incredible spaces: the Alte Post in Wieden, a vast abandoned post office; a cozy Christmas salon in Leipzig; and a converted 1930s cinema in Wieden, each time mixing classics with new repertoire and leaning into immersive cabaret-style performance. Every show has built momentum and deepened our connection with audiences. This project is my creative playground, and with a bigger performance coming in November, it feels like we’re only just getting started.
